Council of State Election: Asaase Radio lied, I won’t keep mute over falsehood – Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has vehemently denied a report by Asaase FM claiming he was denied entry to the Prempeh Assembly Hall during the Ashanti Region Council of State elections. Agyapong’s team has described the report as a “blatant distortion of the truth” and a “violation of journalistic ethics”.
According to Agyapong’s team, he arrived at the Prempeh Assembly Hall and was warmly received by several high-profile individuals, including Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Minister of Education, and Appiah Stadium, a prominent National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist. Contrary to Asaase FM’s report, Agyapong was invited multiple times to enter the hall but chose to stay outside before leaving to attend to other commitments.
Agyapong’s team has accused Asaase FM of abandoning the core principles of journalism, particularly the duty to report truthfully and accurately. The team has demanded an immediate retraction of the report and a public apology from Asaase FM, warning that failure to comply will result in legal action.
“We will not stand idly by while falsehoods are spread to damage the reputation of a dedicated public servant,” Agyapong’s team stated. “The truth must prevail, and those who deviate from it must be held accountable.”
