Dr. Apaak encourages WASSCE candidates to aim higher

Deputy Minister for Education Dr. Clement Abas Apaak has inspired final-year students in the Ashanti Region to set their sights on higher opportunities as they sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

He said he was convinced that regardless of the path students choose, they would excel.

“I have no doubt that I will be seeing most of you in the next stage, be it university, technical university, college of education, nursing training, agricultural college, or TVET. Whatever you decide to do, I know you’ll be successful,” Dr. Apaak told candidates.

The deputy minister visited Kumasi Academy, St. Louis Senior High School, and KNUST Senior High School, where he praised the students’ commitment and assured them of the government’s confidence in their abilities.

“I know you have an excellent record, and I have no doubt that you’re well prepared to write all the papers. I want to wish you well and let you know we are proud of you. We expect you to excel,” he said.

Dr. Apaak explained that while he was in Kumasi, the Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu was in the Upper East Region monitoring candidates there.

“As I speak, the minister himself is in the Upper East Region, monitoring what is happening with regard to your colleagues’ writing. A decision was made for me to go to Kumasi,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Iddrisu addressed students of Zebilla Senior High Technical School ahead of their papers. He encouraged them to remain calm and confident, stressing that examinations are no cause for fear.

He urged them to demonstrate the discipline and preparation they had put into their studies.

The parallel visits by the minister and his deputy highlight the Education Ministry’s determination to boost morale among candidates nationwide during the crucial WASSCE period.
