WUSC Ghana engages Dr. Apaak on ATVET

The Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, has engaged the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) Ghana at the Ministry of Education.
The engagement forms part of efforts to strengthen technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
According to a post on his official Facebook page, Dr. Apaak said the engagement was primarily to formally introduce WUSC Ghana to the Ministry of Education. He noted that although WUSC has been operating in Ghana for years, the visit focused on its aim of accelerating change through innovation under the Agricultural TVET (ACTIVATE) Project.
“On behalf of the Honorable Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, I welcomed the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) to the Ministry of Education,” he said.

Dr. Apaak further explained that he used the opportunity to outline efforts by the Ministry to promote inclusive education, particularly for women, marginalized groups and persons with disabilities.
“I indicated to the WUSC Ghana team, led by the Country Director, Appiah Wiafe Adofo, how the Honorable Minister and I are working assiduously to support women, marginalized groups, and persons with disabilities in the education sector, including the free tertiary education policy for persons with disabilities under the President John Dramani Mahama-led administration,” he stated.
He added that empowering Ghanaian youth and persons with disabilities with employable skills remains urgent.
“The need to empower Ghanaian youth and persons with disabilities with employable skills is urgent, as many are being left behind, and it is not good for our society. I commended WUSC Ghana for its efforts so far. I added that its objectives are in line with what the government and the Ministry of Education seek to achieve, particularly in our deliberate efforts to upscale TVET education through increased support for CTVET and TVET Services,” Dr. Apaak added.
