Dr. Apaak inaugurates Anfoeta Technical Institute

The Anfoeta Technical Institute has officially been inaugurated.
Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, on Wednesday commissioned the Anfoeta Technical Institute, describing the ceremony as a new dawn for technical and vocational education in the Volta Region.
Dr. Apaak told the gathering that the government viewed Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a driver of national progress. “This inauguration is not just about physical structures. It is about giving our young people the opportunity to learn, innovate, and contribute to the growth of our country,” he said.
He stressed that President John Dramani Mahama’s administration had prioritised TVET as part of its education reforms, adding that the sector was central to producing a skilled workforce for Ghana’s future. “Technical and vocational education is the foundation for building a resilient economy. It provides our youth with skills to secure jobs and create businesses,” the Deputy Minister remarked.
Although the facilities for the Anfoeta Technical Institute were completed in 2016, they remained unused for several years. Under the Mahama-led government, the school was absorbed into the public education system within months, paving the way for academic work to begin.
The institute is equipped with a two-storey classroom block, a fully furnished technical workshop, dormitories for boys and girls, an eight-unit teachers’ bungalow, a secure fence wall, and reliable water and electricity supply. These, officials say, will provide a conducive environment for learning and teaching.
The inauguration was witnessed by traditional leaders, education officials, and members of the community, who welcomed the development as a long-awaited intervention.
The Anfoeta Technical Institute is expected to admit its first batch of students in the coming weeks as part of the government’s renewed drive to strengthen TVET across Ghana.
