Dr. Apaak lauds funding partners for sustained commitment to the success of GALOP

The Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has commended the funding partners of their sustained commitment to the success of the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP).
Addressing the GALOP Project Oversight Committee meeting on behalf of the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu on 14th July 2025 at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Apaak stated that GALOP AF2 provides an additional US$117.1 million to scale up targeted interventions in basic schools.
“I would like to take this opportunity to express our deep appreciation to the SCALE Funders, World Bank, the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), and all funding partners for their sustained commitment to the success of GALOP.
“GALOP AF2 provides an additional US$117.1 million to scale up targeted interventions in basic schools. We must ensure that every intervention from teacher training and school grants to performance-based incentives is efficiently deployed and monitored”, Dr. Apaak stated.
He continued: “As a Committee, our effectiveness will be measured by the clarity of our direction, the quality of our oversight, and the responsiveness of our systems to on-the-ground realities. Let us use our meetings not just to report, but to solve, to refine, and to reaffirm our shared commitment to ensuring learning for every child in Ghana.”
Dr. Apaak who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Builsa South disclosed that GALOP seeks to improve literacy and numeracy proficiency at the early grades through structured pedagogy, curriculum alignment, and effective use of assessment, such as the National Standardized Test.
“Provide teachers with continuous professional development, including in-service training, coaching, and digital learning content that enhances instructional delivery and learner engagement.
“Together, let us show that when oversight is rigorous and collaboration is genuine, transformative learning outcomes are not just possible, they are inevitable.
“Thank you for your dedication to Ghana’s education transformation. I look forward to our deliberations and to forging a strong partnership that will make GALOP AF2 a beacon of success,” Dr. Apaak stated.
