Education Ministry urges police to intensify hunt for fugitive Bole SHS teacher

The Ministry of Education has urged the Ghana Police Service to intensify efforts to locate, arrest, and prosecute the interdicted Bole Senior High School teacher who remains at large.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Education Minister Dr. Clement Apaak and issued on Tuesday, the Ministry expressed concern that the teacher had not been arrested despite a nationwide manhunt announced weeks ago, describing the delay as troubling given the gravity of the allegations and the public interest surrounding the case.
“The Ministry of Education urges the Ghana Police Service to, as a matter of urgency, locate and arrest the interdicted Bole Senior High School teacher, who remains at large weeks after a nationwide manhunt was announced,” the statement said.
The Ministry said reports that the teacher recently granted an interview claiming his conduct was unintentional should provide investigators with useful leads.
“We therefore believe that with intensified efforts, including digital tracking and contacting the source, which reported his flimsy excuse, could prove useful in locating him,” it stated.
The Ministry maintained that information available to it contradicts the teacher’s public explanation, insisting that the alleged misconduct was “deliberate and intentional.”
It further claimed to have seen additional videos allegedly showing the same teacher engaging in similar inappropriate behaviour with other girls believed to be students.
“Based on what we know so far, we believe that the now disgraced and interdicted teacher used his privileged position as a teacher to exploit vulnerable female students,” the statement added.
The Ministry said Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu had described the incident as “unacceptable, shameful, and inconsistent with the values and standards expected of members of the teaching profession.”
It also appealed to members of the public with information about the teacher’s whereabouts to report to the Police or the Ministry to aid efforts to apprehend him.
Beyond the Bole SHS case, the Ministry expressed concern over what it described as increasing cases of indiscipline involving teachers, school heads and students across the country’s educational institutions.
It said the Minister has directed the Ghana Education Service to take firm action against all forms of misconduct in pre-tertiary schools, warning that violations of professional and student conduct standards would attract appropriate sanctions under existing laws.
The Ministry also announced plans to convene a national dialogue involving key stakeholders to discuss practical and sustainable measures to address growing indiscipline in Ghana’s schools.
