EIU, Fitch polls: Let’s be vigilant, work harder to secure victory for Mahama – Dr. Apaak to NDC

The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has called on the sympathizers and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to work harder in securing victory for former President John Mahama.
This comes on the back of two research firms, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) and Fitch Solutions predicting victory for Mr. John Mahama.
The EIU is predicting that Ghana is likely to experience a transfer of power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
It revealed that the victory of the NDC will be largely driven by declining living standards, limited job opportunities, and poor public services.
Commenting on the polls, the Builsa South lawmaker stated that the prediction should motivate the teeming members of the party to work harder for a resounding victory for Mr. John Mahama.
“Polls/predictions of victory for JM/NDC should motivate us to work even harder than originally planned given the extent to which the NADAA/BMD gov’t has compromised state/public institutions with direct/indirect roles in the process. We must be vigilant!” Dr. Apaak stated.
On its part, Fitch Solutions says the ruling party is unlikely to remain in power, with former President Mahama expected to win the swing regions by nearly 48 percent as against Vice President Bawumia’s 29%.
In a related story calling for unity and everyone to work harder to secure victory for Mahama, The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has advised persons pursuing religious and ethnic political agenda to desist from that.

This follows the call by the former United Nations Envoy to West Africa and the Sahel Region, Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas on Ghanaians to be wary of the divisive, religious, and ethnic sentiments emerging ahead of the 2024 General Election.
In making a remarks at STAR Ghana Foundation’s anniversary lecture on “Empowering Citizens and Enriching Nation Building”, at the British Council, in Accra recently Mr. Chambas indicated that “the commitment to the betterment of our country is a collective responsibility and must transcend political, religious, and ethnic boundaries.
“Unfortunately, we are seeing some divisive tendencies in our society, and we must all be careful about them, especially when we have elections in 2024. When it comes to election year, all our demons come out.”
Commenting on the development, the Builsa South lawmaker stated that the peaceful religious coexistence must not be jeopardized by some characters.
“Let those who have ears listen to Dr. Ibn Chambas before it’s too late. Religious and Ethnic flames will consume us if we don’t put off the flying sparks now.
“We have always lived in peace and harmony despite our religious and ethnic diversity. Reject divisive characters!
The former United Nations Envoy to West Africa and the Sahel Region further urged citizens and political parties to make the 2024 General Election an issue-based campaign.
“So please let us focus on messages when we are choosing our leaders in this country,” he emphasised.
Mr. Chambas also expressed concern that despite successes chalk by Ghana in its democratic journey there are still rooms for improvement.
