EOCO refutes false publication on Springfield Energy CEO investigation

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has dismissed reports alleging the arrest of Springfield Energy’s CEO, Kevin Okyere, in connection with an ongoing investigation.
In a statement dated November 2, 2025, EOCO described the publication by online news outlet “Novareport” as “false and misleading,” stressing that it has not arrested or detained Mr. Okyere, who was alleged to be held in Dubai.
EOCO clarified that it is, however, conducting two separate investigations involving Springfield Energy.
The first relates to a petition against the company, and the second concerns a case between Springfield Energy and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST).
“The case involving BOST and Springfield is of priority to EOCO due to its implications on BOST’s finances and the local economy,” the statement read.
The crime-fighting agency criticized Novareport for not seeking clarification before publishing what it termed “false allegations.”
EOCO emphasized that while it does not comment on active investigations, it found the claims damaging and misleading.
“Though EOCO does not comment on active investigations, it is regrettable that Novareport did not seek clarification before running the false story,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, EOCO said it remains dedicated to investigating and prosecuting economic and organized crimes in Ghana. It urged the public to disregard the misleading report and rely on verified information from credible sources.
“EOCO assures the public that it is committed to investigating and prosecuting economic and organised crimes in Ghana,” the statement said, adding that “two investigations involving Springfield Energy are currently underway.”
EOCO warned media houses to exercise caution and verify facts before publication to avoid misleading the public.
Springfield Energy is a Ghanaian oil and gas company operating in the upstream petroleum sector.
The company began operations during a period of transition in the global oil and gas industry, influenced by the shale economy and changing geopolitical conditions that affected production and regulatory activities.
Springfield’s operations focus on exploration and production within the oil and gas value chain.
