GES assures a transparent 2025 BECE Placement process

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured parents, guardians, and candidates that the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) school placement exercise will be conducted in a fair, transparent, and merit-based manner.

The Service emphasized that the process is designed to ensure every qualified candidate has the opportunity to pursue their educational goals without discrimination.

Addressing the media on Thursday, the Director General for GES, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, explained that the placement will be determined based on candidates’ aggregate scores from six subjects — the four core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies) and the two best elective subjects. In situations where candidates obtain the same aggregate, raw scores will be used to finalize rankings and ensure fairness.

He warned the public to be wary of fraudulent individuals posing as officials of the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), the Free Senior High School Secretariat (FSHS), or the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) directorate, who may attempt to extort money for school placement. It reiterated that the process is free and strictly merit-based and urged anyone approached by scammers to report such incidents immediately to security agencies.

To improve accuracy and transparency, the Ministry has introduced a school choice confirmation process running from August 27 to September 1, 2025. This allows candidates to verify their school, program, and gender choices and correct any discrepancies before final placements. Candidates are expected to confirm their selections via the official CSSPS portal at [www.cssps.gov.gh](http://www.cssps.gov.gh). An explainer video will also be provided to guide students and their guardians through the process.

According to him, the 2025 placement roadmap includes the release of BECE results on August 23, confirmation of school choices from August 27 to September 1, activation of call and resolution centers on September 16, publication of placement results on September 17, and the reopening of schools for first-year students from October 18 to 20.

Prof. Ernest Davis assured the public that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and successful exercise and called on candidates and their families to remain calm and trust the process.
