GES declares March 7 holiday for students

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that Friday, March 7, 2025, will be a holiday for all students in Ghana. This decision was made to provide students with a well-deserved break after their rigorous preparations for the 68th Independence Anniversary activities.
According to the GES, the holiday is a way to acknowledge the efforts of schoolchildren who contributed to the celebrations. “This decision is to provide students with a well-deserved break after their rigorous preparations for the Independence Anniversary activities,” the GES stated in a press release.
The GES has apologized for any inconvenience the short notice may cause and has expressed gratitude for the cooperation of parents, teachers, and all stakeholders. Schools are expected to resume regular classes on Monday, March 10, 2025.
Parents and guardians have been urged to take note of the holiday and make the necessary arrangements for their children. The GES has assured that the holiday will allow students to rest and recharge before resuming academic activities.
As Ghana celebrates its 68th Independence Day, the GES’s decision to declare a holiday is seen as a way to recognize the importance of student participation in national events.
