Mahama’s honeymoon period impressive – Prof Adei

Renowned economist Professor Stephen Adei has commended President John Dramani Mahama for his impressive performance during his first 100 days in office.
Speaking on JoyNews’ The Pulse, Prof Adei noted that Mahama’s initial months in power have been remarkable, earning him a “very high score” compared to past administrations since Ghana’s independence.
According to Prof Adei, Mahama’s achievements during his first 100 days are noteworthy. “His Excellency, the President has done very well in the first 100 days. I mean, government after government… I would give him a very high score for what he has done,” Prof Adei remarked. He drew parallels with previous governments, including the era of Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah.
However, Prof Adei cautioned that the true test of leadership lies beyond the initial phase. “This is the honeymoon stage… But the real challenge lies in stabilizing the economy, generating revenue, and addressing key issues such as Ghana’s limited gains from its mineral resources and the fight against illegal mining [galamsey],” he added.
Despite the challenges ahead, Prof Adei expressed optimism about Mahama’s potential to drive progress. “So far, he has done very well, and we wish him the best because Ghana cannot continue resetting the agenda,” he stated.
