Ghana’s future cannot be built on disorder – Dr. Apaak charges youth

Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has called on young people across Ghana to embrace honesty, discipline, and patriotism as the foundation for national development.
Speaking at the Pre-African Union Day National Cadet Youth Wreath-Laying Ceremony held at the Liberation Circle Roundabout in Accra on Saturday, Dr. Apaak stressed that truthfulness remains a key pillar in building a prosperous and united nation.
“Truthfulness is not always easy. It requires courage. It requires humility. And it requires respect,” he stated while addressing cadet officers, diplomats, security personnel, and youth groups gathered for the occasion.
According to him, no country can achieve lasting progress when dishonesty becomes common in society, adding that discipline and integrity must guide the actions of the younger generation.
Dr. Apaak also used the platform to condemn hooliganism, violence, substance abuse, and indiscipline in schools and communities, urging the youth to reject behaviours that threaten the future of the country.
“The future of Ghana cannot be built on disorder. It must be built on discipline, respect, hard work, honesty, and service,” he emphasized.
The Deputy Education Minister commended the National Cadet Corps for its role in shaping responsible and patriotic young citizens, revealing that the Corps now boasts over 76,000 members across basic, secondary, and tertiary institutions nationwide.
He further praised efforts to expand cadet formations to more schools, particularly plans by the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority to establish cadet corps in five TVET institutions.
Dr. Apaak also encouraged stronger female participation in leadership within the Cadet Corps and proposed practical initiatives such as cadet farms and agricultural projects to support the operations of the organization.
The event formed part of activities ahead of the African Union Day celebrations under the theme: “Shaping Disciplined Leaders for a Prosperous and Hopeful Ghana.”
