Innovation, professionalism are vital in public service – Haruna Iddrisu

Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening quality education.
He described the sector as a key driver of Ghana’s national development.
According to him, investment in education remains one of the most important tools for promoting the country’s social, economic, and political progress.
The Minister made the remarks when members of the Civil Service Council, led by its Chairperson, Dr. Lawerence Akanweeke Kannae, paid a courtesy call on him at the Ministry of Education ahead of an engagement with staff of the ministry.
Mr. Iddrisu stressed the need for public officials to uphold professionalism, fairness, and integrity in the discharge of their responsibilities, noting that public service must always reflect commitment to national development and service to citizens.
He maintained that improving education outcomes remains central to the government’s broader development agenda and called for continued dedication from staff within the ministry.
Addressing staff during the familiarisation visit, Dr. Lawerence Akanweeke Kannae explained that the Civil Service Council, which was inaugurated nine months ago, has over the past three weeks been engaging various ministries to better understand their operational activities and deepen collaboration with public sector workers.

Dr. Kannae further encouraged staff to embrace innovation, professionalism, and positive attitudes in the delivery of public services, stressing that efficiency and responsiveness are essential in modern governance.
He assured ministry staff that the Civil Service Council remains committed to engaging workers, listening to their concerns, and supporting efforts aimed at improving performance and addressing institutional challenges.
The Chairperson was accompanied by other members of the council, including Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, Dr. Esther Offei-Aboagye, Ambassador Kwame A. Tenkorang, Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah, Justice Agnes M. A. Dadzie, Mr. Charles Kwame Dondieu, and Dr. Evans A. Dzikum.
