Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff at Jubilee House, will be the special guest for the 50th anniversary edition of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards.
Slated for November 15, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre, the event will be attended by key personalities within the sports fraternity.
This year’s celebration marks a golden milestone in recognizing excellence in Ghanaian sports journalism and athletic achievement.
The SWAG Awards, regarded as the country’s longest-running sports recognition event, will celebrate distinguished athletes, teams, and contributors who have made exceptional impacts on Ghana’s sporting landscape.
Among the awards up for grabs are Footballer of the Year, Club of the Year, Boxer of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Referee of the Year, just to name a few.
The presence of Mr. Debrah underscores the government’s recognition of the vital role of sports and journalism in national development.
The Chief of Staff has been involved in several sports events since assuming his office in January. He has led multiple health walks and headlined a couple of marathons.
This year’s event enjoys strong corporate support from leading brands, including OmniBSIC Bank, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Stanbic Bank, Lufart, GCB Bank, Goldbod, Ghana Free Zones Authority, and Phoenix Insurance.
Media partners such as Ignite Media, GTV Sports+, Multimedia Group, Happy FM, Sporty FM, and the EIB Network are providing coverage and promotion ahead of the grand night.
The Golden Jubilee SWAG Awards are expected to attract key figures from sports, business, and government, highlighting the enduring relevance of sports journalism in Ghana’s national story.
As the association celebrates five decades of excellence, the event promises to blend recognition with a renewed commitment to the growth of Ghanaian sports.
