Luxury homes, cars, fuel stations seized in Mustapha Hamid prosecution – OSP

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has revealed that it is currently in custody of an extensive portfolio of luxury properties, vehicles and commercial assets linked to the ongoing criminal prosecution of former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive, Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, and nine other accused persons.
The disclosure is contained in the OSP’s 2025 Half-Yearly Report, signed by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, which outlines the scale of assets being preserved as exhibits in the case pending before the Criminal High Court in Accra.
According to the report, the seized assets form part of the prosecution’s evidence in The Republic v. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid & Nine Others (CR/0603/2025) and are being managed by the OSP pending the outcome of the trial.
Among the properties taken over by the Office are four fuel stations located at Opeikuma, Dansoman, Abeka Lapaz and Millennium City in Accra, as well as a cash seizure of GH¢951,995.56. The OSP has also assumed control of several parcels of land across the country, including a property in Tamale valued at GH¢9.93 million, land at Haatso worth GH¢2.737 million, Danyame in Kumasi valued at GH¢4.766 million, and another parcel at Adenta, which is yet to be valued.
The report further details a number of high-end residential properties now under OSP management. These include a two-storey building at East Legon valued at GH¢12.7 million, as well as apartments located at Airport Residential Area, Boundary Road, Roman Ridge and Adjiringanor, all situated in prime neighbourhoods of Accra.
Other seized assets include six-unit residential blocks at Agbogba valued at GH¢10 million, 23 fuel tanker trucks, and several uncompleted luxury apartment developments at Airport City and Roman Ridge.
In a separate but related disclosure, the OSP also reported the seizure of luxury vehicles valued at approximately GH¢18.6 million in connection with investigations into the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF). The vehicles include a Rolls-Royce Mansory Phantom, Mercedes-Benz Maybach S680, Mercedes-Benz Brabus 800, Toyota Land Cruiser LC300, Lexus LX600, and two Fiat bullion vans.
The asset seizures follow criminal charges against Dr. Abdul-Hamid and nine others, including former and current officials of the NPA and three private companies, over an alleged conspiracy to extort more than GH¢291 million from players in the petroleum sector.
Prosecutors allege that between December 2022 and December 2024, the accused unlawfully obtained GH¢291,574,087.19 and US$332,407.47 from bulk oil transporters and oil marketing companies, despite lacking legal authority to impose or collect the payments.
The trial remains ongoing, with the OSP indicating that asset tracing and preservation efforts will continue as the matter proceeds before the High Court.
