Lydia Akanvariba Adakudugu donates GH¢193,200 in scholarships and education support, commissions ICT lab in Tempane

The Tempane MP has invested heavily in education while unveiling a modern ICT facility for schools in her constituency.

The Member of Parliament for Tempane and Minister for Public Sector Reforms, Lydia Akanvariba Adakudugu, has made a major investment in education in her constituency by donating GH¢193,200 in scholarships and education support while commissioning a modern ICT facility for schools.

On September 6, 2025, Lydia Akanvariba Adakudugu handed over the Yamoransa Model Lab 15 at Woriyanga to the Tempane District Education Office. The ultra-modern facility features a 64-seater computer laboratory, a 100-seater conference room, and a robotics lab to boost digital literacy and innovation among young people.

As part of her education-focused initiatives, Lydia Akanvariba Adakudugu awarded GH¢100,000 in scholarships to 50 brilliant but needy tertiary students, provided GH¢50,000 to the Tempane District Education Office to support operations, donated laptops to three visually impaired students, and released GH¢43,200 for the reroofing of Kpikira Basic School after a rainstorm disaster.

“This is not just a facility; it is a gateway to opportunity, knowledge, and transformation for our children and generations yet unborn,” Lydia Akanvariba Adakudugu said at the commissioning.

She commended the Helping Africa Foundation (HAF) for its partnership, stressing that their support made the Yamoransa Model Lab a reality. Tempane is the only constituency in the Upper East Region with such a facility, out of just 16 established nationwide.

The event was attended by Hon. Musah Abdulai, Presidential Staffer at the Office of the Vice President, Hon. Joseph Mbilla, DCE for Tempane, Mr. Frederick Alale, District Director of Education, chiefs, teachers, students, and community members.

Members of the community expressed excitement over the project, describing it as a breakthrough for education in Tempane. Some residents said the intervention will inspire students and help bridge the digital divide in the area. Meanwhile, people from other Kusaug constituencies have begun calling on their MPs to emulate Lydia Akanvariba Adakudugu’s example by investing in scholarships, infrastructure, and technology to uplift schools in their districts.

The MP pledged to continue prioritising education and innovation, describing them as critical investments for the constituency’s future growth.
