Mahama assents to abolishing e-levy, betting tax, emissions tax and other taxes

President John Dramani Mahama has honored his promise by assenting to a series of legislative bills aimed at abolishing several taxes, including the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), Betting Tax, and Emissions Tax.
The move is key fulfillment campaign promise by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2024 electioneering campaign.
The signing, which has just been completed in his office, marks a major step in his administration’s efforts to reduce the financial burden on Ghanaians and drive economic growth.
The levy, which was introduced in 2022 by the previous New Patriotic Party administration, imposed a 1.5% tax on electronic transactions, including mobile money transfers, bank transfers, and online payments.
