Man electrocuted to death while charging phone at Akyem Old Tafo

Akyem Old Tafo in the Eastern Region is in shock after a young man, Daniel Agyei, popularly known as “Friday,” reportedly died in a suspected electrocution incident linked to a mobile phone charging on 25th April 2026.

Preliminary accounts indicate that the deceased may have been using his phone while it was plugged into a power source when the incident occurred. It is alleged that he fell asleep with the device resting on his chest while it continued charging.

Some residents claim that after the incident, marks resembling electric shock injuries were discovered on his chest, leading to suspicions that he may have been electrocuted. However, authorities have not confirmed the exact cause of death, and investigations are still ongoing.

The sudden death has left the community in deep shock, especially among those who knew the deceased personally. Many describe the incident as tragic and unexpected, with growing concern over the safe use of mobile phones and electrical gadgets, particularly while charging.
