UCC lecturer, TA reportedly die after car crash

A University of Cape Coast lecturer, Dr. Kwabena Agyemang, and his teaching assistant, Peter Asmah, have reportedly died following a fatal accident at 3rd Ridge Junction.
The incident involved a white Toyota Corolla with registration number GW 5767-16 in which the two victims were travelling at the time of the crash.
Eyewitnesses say the accident occurred when a heavily loaded tipper truck attempted to avoid an oncoming vehicle that had veered into its lane while overtaking. In the process, the truck reportedly lost control, overturned, and fell onto the saloon car carrying the victims.
A witness who spoke to TW88.9 Radio indicated that the chain of events began when a pickup truck overtook another vehicle, forcing the tipper truck into a dangerous situation.
Another bystander described the aftermath as chaotic, noting that emergency responders and passersby rushed to the scene shortly after the crash.
Preliminary reports indicate that Dr. Agyemang, popularly known as Dr. KK, was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Regional Planning at the University of Cape Coast. He was known for his academic work, teaching, and supervision of students.
His teaching assistant, Peter Amoadu Asmah, was described by colleagues as a dedicated graduate who supported teaching and departmental activities.
Sources suggest the two were travelling to Winneba for an official meeting when the accident occurred.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, and their bodies have since been deposited at a morgue.
The incident has triggered an outpouring of grief among students and staff of the university, with many expressing shock over the sudden loss.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident as investigations continue into the exact cause of the crash.
