Motorbike–tractor crash leaves one dead, another in critical condition

A tragic road accident at Antwi Adjei Nkwanta in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region has left one person dead and another in critical condition.
This is as a result of a collision between a motorbike and a tractor.
The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Rafiq Mohammed, who was riding the motorbike at the time of the accident. The pillion rider, 17-year-old Cosmos Boateng, is currently in critical condition at Bibiani Municipal Hospital. The tractor involved in the crash was driven by 26-year-old Shariff Abdul Rahman, who is receiving treatment at DAKS Hospital following injuries sustained in the collision.
According to eyewitness reports, the tractor was travelling from Antwi Adjei Nkwanta to Manukrom to purchase fuel at the Desert Filling Station when it attempted to turn into the station. In the process, it collided head-on with the motorbike approaching from the direction of Kuffour’s Camp.
“All three individuals sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital in Bibiani,” said an eyewitness. Unfortunately, Rafiq Mohammed was pronounced dead on arrival. Cosmos Boateng remains in critical condition, receiving urgent medical care, while the tractor driver is being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening.
The body of Rafiq Mohammed has been deposited at the Bibiani morgue, pending police investigations and an autopsy to determine the exact circumstances of the crash. Authorities have launched an inquiry into the incident to establish whether negligence, speeding, or other factors contributed to the collision.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns over road safety in the Atwima Mponua District, where accidents involving motorcycles and heavy-duty vehicles are becoming increasingly frequent. Local residents and witnesses have called for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and road safety measures, particularly near busy commercial points like filling stations.
Police have appealed to motorists to exercise caution and adhere strictly to traffic rules, warning that lapses in judgment can have deadly consequences.
