Muntaka calls for renewed partnership in security sector

Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has called for a renewed partnership in the security sector.

According to him, the move is to ensure a peaceful and safer Ghana.

He disclosed this at the opening of a two-day workshop organized by the Ministry of the Interior for newly appointed Ministerial Advisory Board members, Board Chairs, Heads of Agencies, and some Deputies of Heads of Agencies.

The workshop aims to discuss programmes and activities of the Ministry and its agencies, enabling them to acquaint themselves with the sector’s operations and performance.

The Minister emphasized the crucial role of the Ministry of the Interior and its agencies in maintaining internal peace, public safety, and law enforcement.

Hon. Muntaka urged Heads of Agencies and Board Chairs to work together to achieve their mandates, highlighting the need for a problem-solving mindset, identifying key enablers, and developing implementable strategies that reflect urgency, discipline, and foresight.

Expressing optimism about the potential for concrete outcomes, the Minister stated, “Let us use this workshop as an opportunity for renewed partnership, shared clarity, and actionable progress.”

In his welcome statement, the Deputy Minister for the Interior, Hon. Ebenezer Oklertey Terlabi, noted that the Onboarding will expose participants, especially new Heads of Agencies and Board Chairpersons, to key topics including Democratic oversight of the security sector, the National Security Strategy, Public Financial Management Act and procurement rules, Corporate governance and the role of the Ministry in agency oversight.

According to him, the gathering is a critical platform to forge and enhance collaboration between the Ministry, Agencies, and Boards required to shape a shared path forward.
