NAPO must apologize over comments that voters in Ashanti only need T-shirt – Asafo Agyei

The New Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy Communication Officer, Asafo Agyei , has condemned Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, for his remarks suggesting that voters in the Ashanti region only need a T-shirt to secure their votes . Agyei described the comment as “insulting” and “demeaning” to the people of Ashanti region.
“For NAPO to say that all voters in Ashanti need is T-shirt, is that not insulting enough?” Asafo Agyei stated on Oyerapa TV. He commented that the people of Ashanti region deserve respect and meaningful engagement, not superficial gestures.
NAPO’s statement was made during a rally in the Kumawu constituency ahead of the bye-election, where he said, “If we cannot organize campaign rallies, let’s use our money to print T-Shirts and distribute to our party faithful and everyone after all, our NPP T-Shirts are beautiful and I don’t think anybody will be wearing them and go vote for another party”.
Asafo Agyei is therefore calling on NAPO to apologize to the people Ashanti region over his comment.
The NDC Deputy Communication Officer highlighted the region’s significant contribution to Ghana’s electoral process and the importance of addressing pressing issues affecting the region, such as education and economic development.
