NDC will fund Free SHS with a percentage of Oil Cash – Dr. Apaak

Dr. Clement Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South Constituency, revealed the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) plan to finance its Free Senior High School (SHS) policy during the party’s Sectoral Press Briefing on its 2024 Manifesto. Dr. Apaak disclosed that the NDC intends to allocate a portion of Ghana’s oil revenue to support quality secondary education.
“The next NDC/Mahama government will provide a dedicated and sustainable funding source for quality secondary education by ring-fencing a percentage of our oil proceeds,” Dr. Apaak stated. This move aims to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Free SHS policy.
Dr. Apaak emphasized the significance of quality education in national transformation. “The power of education to transform nations, societies, and individuals is well documented and self-evident. This is why the NDC, since its inception, has always prioritized education at all levels.”
The NDC has also pledged to expand Free SHS to private Senior High Schools, abolish the double-track system, and boost investments in TVET education. Dr. Apaak assured that the NDC will collaborate with stakeholders to “reset our educational system” and address sectoral challenges.
Dr. Apaak stressed the importance of quality education in national development. “Vote for John Dramani Mahama to ensure every Ghanaian child receives quality education. Help us to rescue and reset our education for our collective good.”
