OSP’s Sammy Darko wouldn’t even be a superintendent in Police Service – Kpebu

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu says the rank held by Sammy Darko at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) does not reflect his professional experience.
He claimed other professionals in the police service had not had an easy ride as Mr. Sammy Darko who currently serves as Director of Strategy, Research and Communication at the OSP.
“If Sammy Darko were in the police service, by now he wouldn’t even be a superintendent. I know lawyers in the police service for more than 20 years who are just going to ASP. But you, Sammy Darko, already look at your position at the OSP and think you are higher than someone else,” he stated in an interview on Adom FM’s.
He insisted that he never described Mr Darko or any OSP official as “junior staff,” explaining that his comments were directed at officers who work under the authority of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.
“I never called anyone junior officers. I only referred to a subordinate who works under Kissi Agyebeng. I wonder why Sammy Darko doesn’t understand. No wonder things don’t get done at the OSP. Those who work there are all under Kissi,” he said.
Mr Kpebu criticised what he described as a misinterpretation of his language. “I never used the word ‘junior.’ You don’t even understand the word ‘subordinate,’” he added.
He further questioned Mr Darko’s legal background and seniority in the profession.
“Sammy Darko, when did you finish law school, and what cases have you handled in court? I know lawyers who completed law school 25 years ago and are not even close to the rank of a commissioner of police, yet Sammy Darko’s position at the OSP is equivalent to that rank.”
Clarifying his remarks, Mr Kpebu urged Mr Darko to verify the meaning of the terms that triggered the controversy.
“I used the word ‘subordinate,’ and Sammy Darko should go and check the meaning before coming at me. Even when you use the word ‘junior,’ and they say he is junior to the OSP, the person is not wrong. It just means he is not the one who is the boss.”
Mr Kpebu is expected to report at 11 a.m. today for further investigations related to the alleged obstruction case, while a separate date will be set to address his corruption allegations against the Special Prosecutor.
