Parents commend SHS resolution centre for smooth placement process

Parents and students who visited the Free SHS Resolution Center at the GNAT Hall have lauded the orderly and swift manner in which school placement issues are being resolved.
More than 5,000 people turned up at the center, many of them expressing relief at the efficiency of the process.
A sexagenarian grandmother, who accompanied her granddaughter Kayla, shared her experience. “I am a retired nurse. I’ve come here with my granddaughter Kayla to get a placement for her. She had an aggregate 6 but was placed in a day school,” she explained.
She added, “There are a lot of people here, but so far so good because they get you a place to sit and we follow the queue.”
Others also praised the patience and attentiveness of the officials.
A military officer specifically commended Dr. Belinda Glover, Deputy Coordinator of the Free SHS Secretariat, who is overseeing operations at the center. “The way the woman is so patient and listens to you is assuring enough,” he noted.
At the center, many parents could be seen climbing the dais where Dr. Glover was seated, eager to engage her directly on their wards’ concerns.
The school placement resolution centers, which opened nationwide on Friday, September 18, 2025, have since received thousands of complaints from parents and guardians.
The centers, set up in major regional capitals, are designed to handle such complaints, verify placement details, and provide quick redress.
Deputy Education Minister, Dr. Clement Apaak, on Friday visited the Senior High School (SHS) and Technical, Vocational and Educational Training (TVET) National Resolution Center to familiarize himself with proceedings at the place.
Following interactions with officials at the centre, the deputy minister addressed the assembly of parents, guardians, and wards who had come to self-place.
He assured them of the government’s commitment to resolving all outstanding issues before Senior High Schools and TVET institutions welcome first-year students in October.
“We acknowledge that not everyone has been placed in his or her school of choice, but we commit to doing our best to ensure that every child is placed.
“By the time our wards are expected to report, which is around this time next month, the 18th of October, many of these issues, if not all, will be resolved,” he noted.
