The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Abigail Elorm Mensah, has continued her nationwide series of market engagements under President John Dramani Mahama’s initiative, “She Trades, Ghana Grows,” with a visit to the Oti Region.

Ms. Mensah described the experience, stating, “Bold Leadership. Real Impact. Genuine Connection. Continuing the transformative journey under H.E. the President’s visionary initiative, ‘She Trades, Ghana Grows,’ I joined another round of market engagements, this time in the Oti Region, where the heartbeat of Ghanaian enterprise continues to beat strong and proud.”

Accompanied by the Regional MASLOC Manager and prominent party leaders, she visited the Dambai Market and Abotoase Market, meeting directly with market women who form the backbone of the region’s economy. She explained that “each conversation revealed not only the everyday challenges they navigate with courage and determination but also their boundless creativity and commitment to supporting their families and communities.”

The MASLOC CEO highlighted that these interactions build on earlier engagements in the Western and Central Regions, where market women shared their experiences, aspirations, and contributions to local development.

She added, “Through MASLOC, we are working closely with these market leaders to design flexible and accessible financing solutions — empowering them to expand their businesses, thrive economically, and build lasting financial independence.”

Ms. Mensah further underscored the importance of inclusive leadership, saying, “This visit reaffirms the steadfast leadership of H.E. the President and the compassionate advocacy of the First Lady, whose unwavering dedication to women’s welfare continues to inspire a more inclusive and equitable Ghana.” She concluded by emphasizing collective progress, stating, “Together, we move forward building prosperity from every market stall, every small business, and every corner of our nation.”

The initiative, coordinated by MASLOC, seeks to provide practical support to women traders across Ghana, including financing, mentorship, and capacity-building programs. It is part of a broader strategy to strengthen local economies, promote financial independence, and ensure that market women contribute meaningfully to national growth.

The Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) is a government agency dedicated to providing financial and advisory support to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises across Ghana. It aims to promote entrepreneurship, empower women, reduce poverty, and foster sustainable economic development nationwide.
