Police arrest suspected drug dealer, seizes Tramadol in Tamale

A police anti-drug operation in Tamale has resulted in the arrest of a man suspected of dealing in restricted pharmaceutical substances.
The suspect, Abdul Manan, 33, was picked up at Zujung in the Tamale Metropolis after officers reportedly acted on intelligence about illegal drug activities in the area.
The Northern Regional Police Command said the exercise was part of ongoing efforts to tackle the growing circulation of unapproved and controlled drugs within the metropolis.
During the operation, a police team led by Chief Inspector Abu Issahaku stormed a chemical shop believed to be linked to the suspect’s activities. Officers later extended the search to his residence, where additional substances were discovered.
Items retrieved during the exercise included dozens of boxes of Tramadol of varying strengths, sachets of Royal Tramadol, Astradol-P tablets, and several bottles of Koffex syrup.
Police believe the substances were being distributed illegally within Tamale and nearby communities.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect has since been transferred to the Regional Drug Law Enforcement Unit together with the seized products to assist with investigations.
Investigators are currently working to determine the source of the drugs and identify other persons who may be connected to the operation.
The Police Command says it remains committed to intensifying operations against the illegal drug trade as concerns continue to grow over substance abuse among the youth.
