PTA, Teachers must engage in dialogue to fix challenges in schools – Apaak

The Deputy Education Minister-Designate, Dr. Clement Apaak, has emphasized the need for Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) and teachers to engage in dialogue to address the challenges facing schools. According to Dr. Apaak, this collaborative approach is crucial in finding solutions to the problems that schools encounter.
“That has been done because we all know the rules that PTAs play when schools have challenges. Have a dialogue with the teachers and find ways to try and assist the schools in addressing some of those challenges,” Dr. Apaak stated.
Dr. Apaak’s call for dialogue between PTAs and teachers is rooted in the recognition of the critical role that PTAs have played in supporting schools over the years. As he noted, “PTAs have contributed to build infrastructure,” highlighting the significant contributions that PTAs have made to the development of schools.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has also emphasized the importance of community participation in education delivery. According to the GES, “the involvement of parents and the community in the management of schools is critical to the success of the education system.”
By encouraging dialogue between PTAs and teachers, Dr. Apaak is seeking to harness the collective expertise and resources of these stakeholders to address the challenges facing schools. This collaborative approach is expected to yield positive results, ultimately leading to improved education outcomes for students.
