Sanction Abronye, if you’re bold – Amoah to Bawumia

Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has been urged to publicly distance himself from comments made by the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC.

The call follows a leaked video in which Mr Baffoe allegedly stated he would delete the names of some delegates from the party’s album ahead of the January 2026 primaries.

The statement, believed to be aimed at sidelining delegates opposed to Dr Bawumia’s presidential bid, has sparked widespread condemnation within the party.

The NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, has formally petitioned the party’s National Disciplinary Committee to investigate the matter.

Speaking on Kasapa FM’s Ghana Kasa programme, Lawyer Kobby Amoah, an aide to presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong, said Dr Bawumia needed to take a clear stance.

“It would be appropriate that the former Vice President who is also a forerunner in the party’s Presidential primaries condemns the actions of Kwame Baffoe publicly,” Lawyer Amoah said.

He argued that Dr Bawumia’s silence could be misinterpreted as tacit approval, especially since he stood to benefit politically.

“The public condemnation of Abronye’s disgraceful actions and outbursts by Dr Bawumia is necessary since he, Dr Bawumia, is the indirect beneficiary of Abronye’s outburst,” he noted.

Lawyer Amoah further suggested that Dr Bawumia should follow the example of Kennedy Agyapong, who dismissed Net 2 TV journalist Kwaku Annan after what he described as unwarranted attacks on political opponents.

“It will also help show that he is man enough and one who is bold at taking decisions,” he told host Sonto.

Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has hit back at a petition filed against him by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.

He stated that he is ready to face the NPP’s National Disciplinary Committee.

In a statement dated September 30, 2025, Abronye declared his “full preparedness and willingness” to appear before the committee and use the platform to expose what he described as the “antichrist actions and inactions” of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a senior member of the party.

“I hereby write to indicate my full preparedness and willingness to appear before the Committee to comprehensively lay bare and substantiate the antichrist actions and inactions of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, which has undermined the cohesion and integrity of our Party,” his statement read.
