SHS placements to be released today

Senior High School placements for Basic Education Certificate Education (BECE) candidates who wrote this year are set to be released by the Ghana Education Service (GES) today.

The service, which scheduled the release date for 17th September, 2025, had given candidates a week to verify their details on the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal ahead of the announcement.

According to the GES, parents and guardians can access their placements via cssps.gov.gh, where they can also resolve concerns.

“In order to reduce the errors associated with school placement, candidates will have the opportunity to review the entries they have made online,” Professor Ernest Davis, GES boss, said last month.

Last week, the Education Ministry released a video guiding learners on how to navigate their way on the portal.

On the home page, they may choose from options including Choices Confirmation, Check Placement, or Self Placement.

After the candidates have selected their preferred option, they log in with their index number and date of birth, which must be the same as the one provided during the BECE registration. If successful, they will gain access to the information they seek.

The two-minute video, which makes for easy understanding, is meant to guide parents and candidates nationwide who are not abreast with how to navigate their way on the placement portal.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, has urged parents and guardians not to pay a dime to any individual who might offer to assist them through the process.

According to him, bad actors who attempted to solicit money to facilitate payment had to be forwarded to the police with no hesitation.

“Placement is free. Do not pay money to anyone who claims he/she can help you with placement. Anyone who demands money in exchange for placement is a fraudster and should be reported to the police immediately,” Dr. Apaak said.

Students successfully placed will be required to report to their respective schools between 18th and 20th October, 2025 to begin the 2025/2026 academic year.
