Textbooks should not be entirely replaced by technology – Apaak

Deputy Education Minister-Designate, Dr. Clement Apaak, stated that textbooks should not be entirely replaced by technology as he faced the vetting committee live on Gh One TV.
According to Dr. Apaak, textbooks provide a tactile experience that is essential for learning, and they also offer a structured approach to learning that is often lacking in digital materials.
Dr. Apaak’s views on the role of technology in education are significant, given the increasing interest in digital learning platforms.
While technology has the potential to enhance learning, Dr. Apaak’s comments suggest that it should be used to supplement traditional teaching methods, rather than replace them entirely.
“It’s not a question of either-or, but rather how we can use technology to support and enhance the learning experience, while still maintaining the benefits of traditional textbooks,” Dr. Apaak emphasized.
According to UNESCO, “technology can support innovative teaching methods, enhance teacher professional development, and improve student learning outcomes.”
