Two doctors, nurses interdicted at Korle Bu over alleged negligence

Management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has interdicted two medical doctors and two nurses over their alleged failure to provide emergency medical care to a hit-and-run victim who later died.
In a news release issued on Monday, February 23, 2026, the hospital announced that the four staff members have been temporarily removed from duty pending investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the statement, the interdiction follows allegations that the health professionals failed to attend promptly to the victim, raising serious concerns about adherence to emergency care protocols at the facility.
“In line with established administrative procedures, a committee has been constituted to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and the unfortunate death of the victim,” the release stated.
Management explained that the decision to interdict the staff is to allow for an independent and transparent inquiry without interference. The hospital emphasised that the move does not constitute a determination of guilt but is a standard administrative step while investigations are ongoing.
The Board and Management of the hospital have called on all persons connected to the matter to cooperate fully with the investigative committee to ensure a fair and transparent process.
The release further reiterated the hospital’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the delivery of quality healthcare services to the public.
“The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital remains committed to transparency, accountability and the delivery of quality healthcare services. Further information will be communicated upon completion of the investigation,” the statement added.
The incident has sparked public interest, particularly given the critical role of emergency medical response in saving lives.
Management assured the public that appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings of the committee once its work is concluded.
