UN Summit: Corruption has no place in Ghana’s future – Nana Oye

Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to fighting corruption on the global stage.
Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, Deputy Chief of Staff and head of Ghana’s Delegation, delivered a statement at the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) Implementation Review Group (IRG) and the Open-Ended Intergovernmental Working Group on the Prevention of Corruption in Vienna.
She highlighted Ghana’s robust anti-corruption framework, including key legislation and initiatives.
According to Hon. Bampoe Addo, Ghana has achieved tangible results in its fight against corruption.
These include recovering over $340,000 by the Special Prosecutor, saving $11.5 million through blocked inflated contracts, and recovering $1.55 billion by the Audit Service from 2020 to 2023.
The government has also implemented various reforms, including prohibiting political appointees from acquiring state assets and strengthening the Auditor-General’s powers.
Digital reforms, such as the Ghana Electronic Procurement System (GHANEPS) and E-VAT, have increased VAT revenue by 28%.
“Corruption has no place in Ghana’s future,” Hon. Bampoe Addo emphasized, inviting the international community to join Ghana’s anti-corruption fight.
This statement was made by Hon. Nana Oye Bampoe Addo on June 16, 2025, at the First Resumed Sixteenth Session of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) Implementation Review Group (IRG) and the Open-Ended Intergovernmental Working Group on the Prevention of Corruption in Vienna, where Ghana showcased its commitment to transparency and accountability.
