Woman allegedly kills husband over charcoal money at Ekumfi Asaman

A woman has allegedly killed her husband following a dispute over proceeds from charcoal sales at Ekumfi Asaman in the Central Region.
The suspect, identified only as Auntie Esi, is alleged to have attacked her husband, Kweku Blankson, with a cutlass after tensions escalated between the couple over money generated from their charcoal business.
Information gathered from residents indicates that the couple were farmers who also engaged in the production and sale of local charcoal within the community as a source of livelihood.
According to residents, the incident was triggered after the woman allegedly accused her husband of withholding a larger share of the money realised from the charcoal sales. The misunderstanding reportedly led to a heated confrontation between the two on Wednesday.
Community members further alleged that during the argument, the deceased physically assaulted his wife, a development believed to have worsened the tension in the household.
Speaking to Adom News, a resident of the community, Isaac Panyin Mensah, said the suspect allegedly carried out the attack later that night while the deceased was asleep.
According to him, the woman reportedly entered the kitchen, picked up a sharp cutlass believed to belong to her husband, and attacked him multiple times.
The victim sustained severe injuries and was initially rushed to the Mankessim Hospital for emergency treatment. Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was later referred to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital for further medical attention.
However, Kweku Blankson was pronounced dead upon arrival at the facility.
The incident has left residents of Ekumfi Asaman shocked, with many expressing disbelief over the violent turn of events involving the couple, who were known within the community for their farming and charcoal business activities.
Meanwhile, police are expected to continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident as residents await further details on the case.
