Four in custody over killing of Indian National

The Ghana Police Service has intensified investigations into the killing of Indian national Sain Devendra Kumar, with the arrest of three more suspects believed to be connected to the crime.
The victim’s body was discovered on April 26, 2026, in the boot of his abandoned vehicle near Sabin Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region. Police said the body had multiple stab wounds.
The latest arrests, carried out between April 29 and April 30 through intelligence-led operations in Kumasi, bring the number of suspects currently in custody to four.
The suspects have been identified as Osman Moro, also known as Thiago, aged 20; Akum Kojo Junior; Moro Sule, alias Moro Aboboyaa; and John Adoko, popularly known as Carter.
According to investigators, Akum Kojo Junior admitted involvement in the incident during interrogation and provided details of activities believed to have taken place before and after the murder.
Police sources say the suspect disclosed that on April 24, 2026, he visited the deceased’s workplace where, together with suspect Moro Sule, they allegedly removed and replaced the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera server.
Following the disclosure, Akum Kojo Junior reportedly led investigators to Daban New Site in Kumasi, where the CCTV server had been hidden. The equipment was later retrieved by police.
Investigators further revealed that the suspect allegedly took away two mobile phones belonging to the deceased after the killing — an iPhone 17 Pro Max and a Tecno mobile phone.
Police said the suspect later handed the iPhone to Osman Moro, alias Thiago, at Kaase, while the Tecno device was given to Moro Sule.
Acting on the information gathered, officers proceeded to Kaase, where Osman Moro was arrested. Police say he later led investigators to a nearby bush where the deceased’s iPhone 17 Pro Max had been buried in a hole, wrapped in a brown envelope and covered with fresh leaves.
Further operations took investigators to Aprabong near Dompoase in Kumasi, where Moro Sule was also arrested. The deceased’s Tecno mobile phone was reportedly retrieved from him during the operation.
Police identified Moro Sule as the person alleged to have assisted in replacing the CCTV server at the victim’s workplace before the murder occurred.
Another suspect, John Adoko alias Carter, is also said to have admitted driving the deceased’s vehicle to the location where it was eventually abandoned.
All the suspects remain in police custody assisting with investigations, while the recovered items, including the CCTV server and mobile phones, have been retained as exhibits for evidential purposes.
Meanwhile, police say efforts are ongoing to arrest two additional suspects linked to the case. They have been identified as Zuzu Adrama, described by investigators as the alleged killer, and Vipul Jetpur Vijay, also known as Taruu.
The murder has sparked concern among members of the foreign business community in the Ashanti Region, although police maintain that substantial progress has been made in tracking down those involved in the crime.
