You could be jailed for having sex in car – Lawyer

Lawyer Samuel Kissiedu has cautioned that engaging in sexual activity inside a car in public spaces could lead to legal consequences, including possible imprisonment.
Speaking on Okay FM, he explained that sexual relations are considered a private matter that should strictly take place indoors and within appropriate settings.
He noted that although a vehicle may be privately owned, it does not grant individuals the legal right to engage in sexual activity in locations that are classified as public.
According to him, areas such as roadsides, parking lots, and other open-access spaces remain public environments regardless of whether one is inside a personal car.
He further indicated that the law does not permit individuals to park vehicles in such areas and engage in sexual acts, stressing that these locations are accessible to the general public and therefore subject to public decency regulations.
The lawyer also addressed the common belief that tinted car windows provide sufficient privacy for such actions.
He maintained that the presence of tinted glass does not change the legal interpretation of the act, especially when it occurs in spaces visible or accessible to others.
He emphasized that public morality laws and regulations on indecent exposure can still apply in such circumstances, even if the individuals involved believe they are shielded from view.
His remarks come amid growing public discussions about acceptable behavior in shared spaces and the boundaries of personal freedom.
This is a reminder that private conduct can attract legal scrutiny when it occurs in public settings, particularly in ways that may be deemed inappropriate or offensive under the law.
Authorities have not indicated any specific enforcement campaign, but the warning highlights the importance of understanding the legal limits surrounding personal conduct in public environments.
