Ghana Armed Forces selects first 2,000 recruits for training

The Ghana Armed Forces has completed the selection of 2,000 recruits as the first batch of personnel set to begin military training.
The announcement was contained in a press release issued by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin of the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces.
“The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to inform the public that it has completed the selection of Two Thousand (2000) recruits, being the first in the series of four batches,” the statement said.
According to the military, the selected personnel have been invited to report to designated selection centres across the 16 regions of the country.
“The selected personnel who have been invited are to report at their various selection centres across the 16 regions of the country for their appointment letters and prospectus on Wednesday, 18 March 2026 at 0900 hours,” the release indicated.
The Armed Forces also encouraged applicants who were unable to proceed due to certain medical conditions during the recruitment process to seek treatment, assuring them of another opportunity.
“All potential applicants who had curable medical issues at the medical stage are encouraged to seek medical attention as they would be invited again for a review at a later date at no cost,” the statement noted.
The military further disclosed that some individuals affected by last year’s El-Wak Stadium stampede were included in the first batch of recruits.
“Selected potential recruits for the first batch include 18 personnel who got injured during the El-Wak Stadium stampede last year,” the statement explained.
It added that five other recruits were sponsored by families of persons who died during the incident.
“Five others were sponsored by the families of the deceased during the El-Wak stampede,” the release said.
The Ghana Armed Forces expressed appreciation to the various Regional Administrations for their role in facilitating the recruitment exercise.
“Ghana Armed Forces expresses its gratitude to all the 16 Regional Administrations for their immense support that enabled this year’s exercise to be organised at the regional level,” the statement added.
The military assured other applicants awaiting selection that the process for additional batches remains underway, noting that a large pool of candidates who performed well in the aptitude test will be considered in future recruitment exercises.
