We must commend you – Supreme Court Justices praise Srem-Sai

Deputy Attorney-General Justice Srem-Sai has earned rare praise from Justices of the Supreme Court of Ghana for his courtroom conduct and professionalism.
The commendation came during proceedings on April 29, 2026, where members of the bench highlighted his consistency, preparedness, and ethical approach in representing the State.
“Deputy AG, we must commend you for your activeness in court always,” Senyo Dzamefe stated.
Adding to the praise, Amadu Tanko remarked, “When you one day become Attorney-General, don’t change…”
The Justices noted that his performance reflects a strong sense of duty and marks a positive shift in how State prosecutions are being handled at the apex court.
The recognition comes at a time when concerns had previously been raised by the Court regarding the State’s approach to litigation, with Dr Srem-Sai’s conduct now seen as a notable improvement.
Beyond the Supreme Court, the Deputy Attorney-General has maintained an active presence in several high-profile cases across the High Court and the Court of Appeal.
At the High Court, he is leading the State’s prosecution in major trials, including Republic v. Akonta Mining & Others, which relates to alleged illegal mining at Samreboi; Republic v. Kwabena Adu-Boahene & Others, involving GH¢49.1 million at the National Signals Bureau; and Republic v. Solomon Asamoah & Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, known as the $2 million Sky Train case.
At the Court of Appeal, he recently represented the State in opposing Chairman Wontumi’s application for a stay of proceedings, as well as in an appeal by Kwabena Adu-Boahene concerning disclosure of documents.
On April 29, Dr Srem-Sai appeared before the Supreme Court alongside a team of State Attorneys for a marathon sitting involving multiple cases.
Among the matters heard were Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng & 2 Others v Attorney-General, NPP, NDC & Others; Israel Tetteh & 2 Others v Attorney-General & Others; and Shafic Osman v Board of Wesley Girls’ SHS & 2 Others.
The Court also considered four separate suits challenging the legality of the suspension and subsequent removal of former Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo.
These include a suit filed by the former Chief Justice herself, as well as actions by the Centre for Citizenship, Constitutional and Electoral Systems LBG, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, and Theodore Kofi Atta Quartey.
The panel, chaired by Justice Amadu Tanko and comprising Justices Emmanuel Yonny Kulendi, Henry Anthony Kwofie, Senyo Dzamefe, Sir Dominic Dennis Adjei, Hafisata Amaleboba and Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo, adjourned the cases to May 14, 2026, for a Case Management Conference.
The commendation adds to earlier recognition of Dr Srem-Sai’s work, including praise from a High Court judge in February for his handling of the high-profile Bawku case alongside defence counsel led by Martin Kpebu.
