SIGA Report: Feedback should be based on total report, not headlines – Kpessa-Whyte

The Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Prof. Michael Kpessa-Whyte, has urged the public and stakeholders to assess the authority’s latest report based on its full content rather than isolated headlines in the media.
Speaking on Newsfile on Saturday September 5, 2026, Kpessa-Whyte, said relying on fragments of the report could lead to inaccurate conclusions about the performance of state-owned enterprises.
“Feedback on the SIGA report should be based on the total report and not bits and pieces of headlines in the media,” Prof. Kpessa-Whyte stated.
According to him, the latest report represents a comprehensive assessment of the performance of state-owned enterprises and should therefore be considered in its entirety.
He further defended the credibility of the report, stressing that SIGA relied on audited financial information in compiling its findings.
“This is the most reliable report SIGA has ever produced,” he said.
Prof. Kpessa-Whyte explained that the authority based its assessment on financial statements that had gone through the appropriate auditing process.
“We relied on audited statements from the Auditor-General,” he stated.
His comments come amid public and political discussions over the findings of the SIGA report and interpretations of the financial performance of state-owned enterprises.
The SIGA Director-General’s remarks are also expected to fuel further debate over how the report should be interpreted, particularly as various stakeholders draw different conclusions from figures and headlines emerging from the document.
