‎SIGA Report: Feedback should be based on total report, not headlines – Kpessa-Whyte

‎The Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Prof. Michael Kpessa-Whyte, has urged the public and stakeholders to assess the authority’s latest report based on its full content rather than isolated headlines in the media.
‎
‎Speaking on Newsfile on Saturday September 5, 2026, Kpessa-Whyte, said relying on fragments of the report could lead to inaccurate conclusions about the performance of state-owned enterprises.
‎
‎“Feedback on the SIGA report should be based on the total report and not bits and pieces of headlines in the media,” Prof. Kpessa-Whyte stated.
‎
‎According to him, the latest report represents a comprehensive assessment of the performance of state-owned enterprises and should therefore be considered in its entirety.
‎
‎He further defended the credibility of the report, stressing that SIGA relied on audited financial information in compiling its findings.
‎
‎“This is the most reliable report SIGA has ever produced,” he said.
‎
‎Prof. Kpessa-Whyte explained that the authority based its assessment on financial statements that had gone through the appropriate auditing process.
‎“We relied on audited statements from the Auditor-General,” he stated.
‎
‎His comments come amid public and political discussions over the findings of the SIGA report and interpretations of the financial performance of state-owned enterprises.
‎
‎The SIGA Director-General’s remarks are also expected to fuel further debate over how the report should be interpreted, particularly as various stakeholders draw different conclusions from figures and headlines emerging from the document.
