E/R NDC appeals to Dampare to beef up security in Upper West Akyem
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Eastern Regional has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGH), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to beef up security at Upper West Akyem registration center.
In a press release signed by NDC Eastern Regional Secretary, Jamal Konneh alleged that the NPP constituency chairman of Upper West Akyem, Nana Adei Obuobi brought hooligans to cause mayhem and intimidate the EC officials and innocent registrants by firing gun shots.
“We call on the IGP and the Regional Commander to beef up security at Adeiso to help avert any unforeseen circumstances. We are also calling on Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin, to call his men to order.
“We wish to assure our strong and spirited branch and Constituency Executives that we are ready to support them any day, any time in as much as they continue to insist on the right things to be done,” Mr. Konneh stated.
He continued: “We as a party believe in the democratic processes but we will and can never cower to submission to any entity. NPP should advice themselves and think twice if this is the approach, they will employ going into 2024, because they do not have a monopoly over violence.”

WE CALL ON THE IGP TO BEEF UP SECURITY AT UPPER WEST AKYEM REGISTRATION CENTRE
I bring you greetings from the Regional Secretariat and wish to thank all our gallant Branch, Constituency Executives and all stakeholders for a great work done throughout the registration process.
This release is to bring to the attention of the IGP that security at the registration centre at Upper West Akyem needs to be beefed up. We as well want to send a warning notice to the NPP and their surrogates that the NDC in the Eastern Region cannot be intimidated.
Around 1p.m yesterday, the lawless NPP constituency chairman of Upper West Akyem, Nana Adei Obuobi, popularly known as Masco, brought hooligans to cause mayhem and intimidate the EC officials and innocent registrants by firing gun shots.
Per our intel, the thugs he brought to disrupt the registration process are members of the Okyenhene taskforce.
We call on the IGP and the Regional Commander to beef up security at Adeiso to help avert any unforeseen circumstances. We are also calling on Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin, to call his men to order.
We wish to assure our strong and spirited branch and Constituency Executives that we are ready to support them any day, any time in as much as they continue to insist on the right things to be done.
We as a party believe in the democratic processes but we will and can never cower to submission to any entity. NPP should advice themselves and think twice if this is the approach, they will employ going into 2024, because they do not have a monopoly over violence.
Once again, we thank you all, comrades. God bless you.
Thank you
Jamal Konneh
Regional Secretary
