Ewura Adams Karim targets youth, digital platforms in proposed NDC communication overhaul

Ewura Adams Karim has pledged to strengthen the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) digital presence and youth engagement as part of proposals to overhaul the party’s communication strategy if elected Deputy National Communications Officer.
Mr. Karim said the party needed to adapt its communication approach to reach younger audiences while maintaining the principles on which it was founded.
In his declaration speech, he listed a stronger digital presence and youth engagement among five commitments he intends to pursue if elected to the position.
He pledged to build “a bolder digital and youth presence, speaking the language of a new generation without losing our founding principles.”
Karim said effective political communication must go beyond defending the party’s positions to inspiring grassroots supporters and attracting Ghanaians who remain undecided about their political choices.
He identified three key responsibilities for party communicators, including keeping grassroots supporters hopeful, attracting undecided voters and responding to opposition criticism with facts.
On attracting undecided voters, he said communicators must reach “the Ghanaian who does not carry our card but carries our country in their heart.”
He added that the party needed communicators who could explain its policies and achievements clearly and persuasively to the public.
Karim also proposed training communicators across the regions and constituencies to improve the party’s communication capacity.
He pledged to establish “a pipeline of trained communicators in every region and constituency, building on the training I have already begun.”
The proposed reforms also include a faster response system to address false claims with facts and figures, alongside efforts to give grassroots supporters a stronger voice in the party’s messaging.
Mr. Karim cited his background in public speaking, student leadership and broadcasting as part of the experience he would bring to the role.
He recalled serving as utility prefect at T.I. AMASS, Ashanti Regional SRC vice-president and speaker of the University of Ghana SRC General Assembly, where he said he was named most influential student.
He also cited his broadcasting experience at Class FM, where he said he was named Presenter of the Year in 2021, as well as his current work with WoezorTV.
Karim said he was prepared to use his experience to strengthen the party’s communication efforts and connect with younger generations while preserving its founding ideals.
