NPP cannot win any fair election in Ghana – Hussein Ibrahim

National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team member, Hussein Ibrahim, has declared that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) cannot win any fair election in Ghana under the current political conditions.
He argued that the NPP has completely lost the trust of Ghanaians, stressing that in any fair election, the people will reject the party at the ballot box. According to him, the electorate no longer believes in the NPP’s promises, making the party unelectable in a credible contest.
Speaking after the Akwatia by-election, Hussein Ibrahim emphasised that the NPP’s chances in any fair election in Ghana are zero, pointing to what he described as the party’s mismanagement of the economy, rising unemployment, and disconnection from the everyday struggles of ordinary citizens.
He said Ghanaians are demanding genuine development and accountability, not excuses or sympathy.
The NDC communicator further criticised the NPP for worsening living conditions while engaging in selective justice in the fight against corruption. He noted that the government’s handling of these issues had eroded every ounce of public confidence in its leadership, leaving the party without credibility.
Hussein Ibrahim also alleged that the NPP has relied on manipulative electoral practices in the past, citing public concerns about transparency and accusations of voter suppression. These alleged tactics, he argued, reveal the desperation of a political organisation that can no longer compete fairly at the polls.
“The reality is that the NPP cannot win any fair election in Ghana again,” he stressed, adding that young, educated, and development-focused voters are increasingly shaping electoral outcomes.
Meanwhile, results from the September 2 Akwatia by-election appeared to support his position. The Electoral Commission declared Bernard Bediako Baidoo of the NDC winner with 18,199 votes, representing 54.3 percent of valid ballots cast. His closest rival, Solomon Asumadu of the NPP, polled 15,235 votes, while Patrick Owusu of the Liberal Party of Ghana managed just 82 votes.
Out of 33,819 valid votes counted, 303 were rejected.
