Over 530,000 candidates successfully placed in second cycle institutions

Within days of the Senior High School placement system going live, over 530,000 candidates have earned slots for themselves in second-cycle institutions nationwide.
This comes after the placements were published on the cssps.gov.gh on Wednesday.
The exact number of candidates who were successful stands at 534,672, the available data suggests.
Within that figure, some 52,492 candidates self-placed either directly on the portal or through the National Resolution Centre set up to address lingering concerns.
More candidates who could not get placements are expected to log on and self-place.
It follows an announcement by Deputy Education Minister, Dr. Apaak, explaining that some students were unable to secure their first-choice schools due to high demand.
He did reveal that a self-placement portal had been activated to give affected candidates a chance to select schools with available vacancies.
“To address this, the self-placement portal has been activated and is now live. All qualified candidates who were not automatically placed are encouraged to log onto the system and select from schools with available vacancies,” he explained.
Meanwhile, 481,874 candidates have been automatically placed into senior high schools through the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), Deputy Education Minister.
Dr. Apaak, on Friday, visited the National Resolution Centre on SHS/TVET placements to reassure parents and guardians of the government’s commitment to resolving outstanding issues.
He said by 18th October, 2025, when second-cycle schools opened their gates to first-year students, all concerns would have been addressed by the authorities.
Deputy Minister of Education has also assured parents, guardians, and candidates that the 2025 placement exercise will remain free and transparent. He emphasized that no one should pay money to secure placement, stressing that the system is designed to give all candidates equal opportunity.
“Placement is absolutely free. Report anyone who solicits money immediately to the police or the Office of the Special Prosecutor,” Dr. Apaak declared at a press briefing in Accra.
Announcing the details, the Deputy Minister revealed that 483,800 candidates out of 590,309 qualified students had been placed, representing 82 percent. He explained that while 107,509 candidates could not be matched with their first choices due to high demand for certain schools, the self-placement portal had been activated to ensure fairness.
