‎Ahafo Ano South West DCE Abubakar Sedik dies after brief illness

‎The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West in the Ashanti Region, Abubakar Sedik, has died after attending a series of official meetings in Kumasi on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

‎Hon. Sedik was among several DCEs who met the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, at the Kumasi Kejetia Phase II project site.
‎
‎The meeting, which involved the minister and trader unions of the Kumasi Central Market, ended at about 5:00 p.m.
‎
‎Hon. Sedik and some of the DCEs subsequently proceeded to the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council for another engagement with the minister later in the evening.
‎
‎According to accounts of the incident, Hon. Sedik was returning to his district after the meeting when he complained of severe pain around his heart.
‎He subsequently died on Sunday evening, September 20.

‎His death has reportedly been attributed to a heart attack, although official medical confirmation was not immediately available.
