Builsa South: 161 female students benefit from Dr. Apaak’s GH¢331,000 education support package

A total of 161 female tertiary students in Builsa South are among 248 beneficiaries of an educational support programme by Dr. Clement Abas Apaak.
The initiative, funded through the Member of Parliament’s Common Fund allocation, is aimed at supporting brilliant but needy students pursuing various programmes in tertiary and professional institutions across Ghana.
Deputy Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has approved financial assistance for 248 students, with females forming the majority of beneficiaries under the latest intervention.
Out of the total number of students selected, 161 are females while 87 are males, according to details of the support package released by the Builsa South MP.
The beneficiaries are students enrolled in universities, technical universities, colleges of education, and nursing and midwifery training institutions.
Dr. Apaak, in a letter authorising the release of the funds to the District Chief Executive for Builsa South, Madam Vida Akantagriwen Anaab, said the intervention was designed to assist students facing financial challenges in their pursuit of higher education.
“Kindly release an amount of Three Hundred and Thirty-One Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢331,000.00) from the Member of Parliament’s Common Fund allocation to support the attached list of Two Hundred and Forty-Eight (248) brilliant but needy students from the Builsa South Constituency,” he stated.
Under the arrangement, 166 students in universities, technical universities and other tertiary institutions will receive GH¢1,500 each, while 82 students in Colleges of Education and Nursing/Midwifery Training Colleges will receive GH¢1,000 each.
Dr. Apaak said the support was intended to reduce financial barriers that could affect students’ ability to continue their education.
“This educational support initiative is intended to assist brilliant but needy students from the constituency to pursue their academic and professional aspirations without undue financial hardship,” he said.
He added that the programme forms part of efforts to promote access to higher education and support human capital development within the constituency.
The latest intervention provides financial assistance to students pursuing different academic and professional pathways, including those preparing for careers in education, healthcare, technology and other fields.
Beneficiaries are expected to use the support to address some of their academic-related expenses and remain focused on completing their studies.
The programme adds to ongoing efforts by the Builsa South MP to support students and promote educational opportunities for young people in the constituency.
