Builsa South to benefit from government’s strategic road projects

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Fumbisi the capital of the Builsa South District in the Upper East Region will benefit from his government’s strategic road projects.
Addressing chiefs, people and Members of Parliament of the Upper East region during his Thank You of the region, President Mahama indicated that the move will boost trade and improve access to markets for farmers and businesses.
“We have also selected a strategic road through Navorongo, Sandema, Fumbisi in (Builsa South) Daboya road, I think this is the road our head of religious bodies referred to which is a shortcut that brings you out through Daboya, to Busonu and then you turn left to the Damago junction then you continue to Buipe, Kimtampo, Techiman then to Kumasi.”
“Other priority road projects will link Bolgatanta the capital of the Upper East region and Wa the capital of the Upper West region”, President Mahama stated.
He continued: “One of our top priorities will be the completion of the Balgatanga Bawku, Pomakom roads, a critical road that will boost trade and improve access to markets for farmers and business. We will also commence the resurfacing of the Tamale, Bolganta, and Paga roads which are currently in very poor condition.
President Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to providing quality education to all Ghanaian children, regardless of their location or socio-economic background.
“We want to ensure that every child in this region and beyond has access to quality education in a conducive learning environment,” Mahama stated. To achieve this goal, the government has uncapped the Get Fund, allowing it to receive more money to complete infrastructure projects in secondary schools across the Upper East Region.
The uncapping of the Get Fund will enable the government to address the long-standing challenge of schools under trees, provide school furniture for schools in need, and promote a safe and supportive learning environment. As Mahama noted, “We’ll focus particularly on providing school furniture for schools that currently do not have them.”
In addition to improving infrastructure, Mahama’s government has also prioritized the well-being and dignity of female students. This year, the government will commence the distribution of free sanitary pads to schoolgirls, ensuring that menstrual hygiene does not become a barrier to education.
