We, the members of the CADRES NETWORK, wish to commend the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its leadership for organizing a peaceful demonstration on the 17th of September, 2024. The unprecedented demonstration, held across the 16 regions of Ghana, was conducted entirely in a peaceful manner. The NDC’s commitment to upholding the peace of our nation and protecting our democracy is commendable, and we urge them to continue in this direction at all times.
We also encourage the leadership of other political parties to emulate the NDC in their future endeavors. The peace and democracy we have enjoyed over the years should not be taken for granted, and it is the responsibility of all political actors to safeguard these pillars of our society.
The NDC’s demonstration was in response to numerous irregularities identified by the party in the operations of the Electoral Commission (EC). It is crucial that the EC works harmoniously with all political stakeholders, fostering collaboration to address the issues raised by the NDC. We hope that following this peaceful demonstration and petition, the leadership of the EC will take the necessary steps to resolve the concerns highlighted, to ensure the continued peace of our country.
We call on the Electoral Commission to maintain fairness and to act firmly in accordance with the rule of law when handling all election-related matters.
May God bless our homeland Ghana.
Signed
Francis Kwesi Badu-Mello
