Mahama directs Aide-De-Camp to take his seat as he addresses worshippers

President John Dramani Mahama paused his address to ask his Aide-De-Camp to sit, drawing laughter and applause from worshippers.
The moment unfolded during a mega Good Friday service led by Dag Heward-Mills, where the President had been invited to speak.
Following a standing ovation as he approached the lectern, the President noticed his security aide standing close by and promptly addressed him in a light-hearted manner.
“Oh soldier, you can sit down. Please sit down. I am very safe here,” he said, prompting loud cheers from the congregation.
He continued, acknowledging the officer’s sense of duty while reassuring him of the environment.
“He is doing his job, he wants to protect me. But I am telling him I’m with my family,” Mahama added, referring to the church audience.
The Aide-De-Camp initially hesitated, appearing unsure whether to comply with the President’s directive, but eventually took his seat as the crowd reacted warmly to the exchange.
The brief interaction set a relaxed tone for the President’s remarks, as he went on to engage the congregation with humour.
“One of the interesting things about Lighthouse Church is the demographic,” he said, pausing before adding jokingly, “I’ve used a big word, eh?” His comment sparked laughter among the worshippers.
The service, organised as part of Good Friday observances, drew a large congregation, with many attendees responding enthusiastically to both the President’s presence and his remarks.
The event formed part of nationwide Easter activities, with churches across the country holding services to mark the significance of the day in the Christian calendar.
