Chief of Staff successfully defends doctoral thesis

Chief of Staff at the presidency, Mr. Julius Debrah, has defended his PhD thesis at the University of Ghana, earning a doctorate.
The successful defence marks a significant academic milestone for Mr Debrah.
While details of his research topic remain undisclosed, the achievement has generated widespread reaction, particularly across social media platforms.
Many commentators have praised his ability to combine the demands of high-level public service with rigorous academic work.
Others expressed curiosity about how he managed the process, given the intense responsibilities associated with coordinating government operations at the Presidency.
In a Facebook post, the Director of the Diaspora Affairs Office at the Presidency, Kofi Okyere-Darko, described the accomplishment as both inspiring and exemplary.
“Congratulations to my Boss, the Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, on the successful defence of your PhD thesis at the University of Ghana. This remarkable achievement is a testament to your discipline, intellect, and unwavering commitment to personal growth even while serving at the highest level of national leadership,” he wrote.
He added that Mr Debrah’s journey demonstrates that “learning and excellence have no limits,” noting that his achievement should motivate others to pursue continuous self-improvement.
“An intentional man with a heart of gold, your journey inspires many to pursue purpose with diligence and humility. May this milestone open even greater doors for impact and service,” he added.
Other social media users also shared congratulatory messages.
Emmanuel K. Dogbevi described it as a “brilliant journey,” while Ali Moro expressed admiration for balancing governance duties with academic pursuits.
Sports journalist Gary Al-Smith added a humorous take, saying, “People in charge of whole countries are completing their PhDs. And then there is me, in charge only of weekly waakye, making excuses why I should not pursue one.”
Several others, including Sam Khabir Moro and Abdul Razak Moro, offered well wishes, while Nana Agyei Mensah’s comment reflected admiration for Mr Debrah’s political future.
The doctoral hooding ceremony for Mr Debrah is yet to be scheduled by the University of Ghana.
